ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION.....

The East Kimberley is considered to be one of the ‘cradles of Aboriginal culture’ and Warmun has a vibrant arts centre with world renowned artists including Queenie McKenzie and Madigan Thomas to record the rich history on canvas.

For budding photographers (or professionals) there are the Bungle Bungles gigantic sandstone "beehives" towering 300m above the surrounding savannah landscape, etched with bands of black lichen and orange silica or the many pieces of pastoral history scattered around the often inaccessible station country to challenge your creativity.

For the avid horticulturalist there are seasonal carpets of purple Mulla Mulla covering the bedrock while golden wattle and kapok trees lend sensational bright yellow hues to the landscape with dots of pink from Bachelors Buttons and reds from the Kurrajongs to add to the riotous colour.

These lovely floral displays entice flocks of native birds to feast on the sweet nectars, making birdwatching another activity, with species like Gouldian Finch, Purple-crowned Fairy-wren, Rainbow Pitta, Black Grasswren. Red Goshawk, Northern Shrike Tit, Chestnut-backed Button Quail and Yellow Chat.
